It never ceases to amaze me that people are willing to spend hundreds, if not thousands of dollars in I.T. training. I have been guilty of this as well. And it seems that the last place people will go to seek information about Microsoft certifications is Microsoft itself. Did you know that there is tons of information waiting to be read and researched on the Microsoft TechNet website? Did you know you can access On-Demand webcasts on most of the current technology Microsoft has to offer? Do you know about Microsoft Across America or Microsoft Learning?

All of this is FREE.

Sharing the Vista?!?

Can this be misconstrued as distributing illegal copies of Windows Vista??? Really folks, I am joking. Perhaps the ad should say, "We have recorded naked women taking showers and we will share it with you."

Now if I could only find the registration button for that... Where can it be?!? Where can it be?!?

Windows Vista - Did you know...

... by default, Windows Vista uses up to 15 percent of a drive's available space to save restore points? The minimum space is 300 MB. This featured percentage is NO LONGER adjustable in the System Restore tab as it was in Windows XP. If you want to adjust this figure, you will have to edit the registry.

To see how much space your restore points are using, open a command prompt (you have to right click and Run as Administrator and pass UAC) and type:

Vssadmin list shadowstorage

My System Restore is showing:

   Used Shadow Copy Storage space: 7.822 GB
   Allocated Shadow Copy Storage space: 8.072 GB
   Maximum Shadow Copy Storage space: 11.479 GB

By default, System Restore creates restore points every 24 hours and is set to start deleting them after approx. 136 years. In comparison, Windows XP did this every 90 days.
